It’s been some time – Kat and myself made it back home. We started at 10:00 and left her mother’s house near Greifswald for a long trip on the Autobahn to pass Rostock, Lübeck, Neumünster and Rendsburg to visit the small city of Husum at the west coast of Germany for a fish-snack and some small shopping entertainment around 13:00. After about two hours we managed to get back to Flensburg at 16:00 to put all of our things (clothing, laptops, equipment) back into our appartments – these two weeks were incredibly amazing and wonderful. By now each of us consumed a beer in our local brewery restaurant and ate some delicious fish and noodles at Kat’s place. Time to find some more peaceful moments together… hmmm!

I found a few things on Blogspirit which disturbed me in a minor case, so it’s not a biggie. I’m simply going to list them all up and let our TagTeam decide on what to do next… ;)

  • The old communities don’t have Trackbacks listed in the major overview compared to more recent additions – probably a template update is necessary.
  • The Trackbacks aren’t summed up in the main admin interface page, currently I have 118 comments in total, but the „All comments“ page lists 124 comments (including the remaining 6 Trackbacks).
  • Once the blog’s category pages grow too large, a limitation of i.e. 15 articles per category page with the option to visit the next/previous page of each category might help to limit the endless scrolling.
  • A list of every blog at Blogspirit with the most recent updates (chronologically listed) might help to find even those blogs that post only once or twice a week but contain interesting information such as Middle Manager’s Heaven or it might help to find dead blogs easier than visiting them manually or checking all subscribed feeds in your RSS aggregator software.

There’s been several rumors about Google trying to accquire the photo service Flickr, but Yahoo made the run as Flickr reports in their own blog:

Holy smokes, SOMEBODY out there is bad at keeping secrets!! Yes! We can finally confirm that Yahoo has made a definitive agreement to acquire Flickr and us, Ludicorp. Smack the tattlers and pop the champagne corks!

I bet Yahoo will make several changes about Flickr’s services – will it remain in the same way as now or will Flickr become integrated into the Yahoo network as „Yahoo’s Photo Service“? Time will tell us…

Nico Wilfer, the hoster of Myblog.de, closed the blog „Girliezine“ on Saturday evening. Wilfer himself explained the blog had been closed due to the facts that even after being warned, „Kelly M.“ chose to spam several other blogs and threatened the authors, too. On the question of the long run to the closure of the blog, Wilfer answered they’d require a very good reason to delete a blog – especially without sending out a warning to the blog’s author, a deletition might catch those users who do not intend to violate rules and regulations. Dogfood at Blogbar concludes some more ideas about virtual death of Girliezine (in German).

It’s not the famous Spring Break, but wonderful sunshine outside. The snow completely vanished finally, the spring is about to fulfill its duty. Goodbye dear Winter, I will not miss you!

So far so good – we’re absolutely relaxed and are about to continously enjoy the free time in our holiday session. This is going to be week 3 soon, but we’ll move back home on wednesday to be back for my mother’s birthday. But here, all kind of food and drinks to abound did the rest. On Saturday, Kat’s cousin Pauli visited us here in Griebenow, a small village next to Greifswald at the Baltic Sea. After committing virtual suicide and bombarding the stomache with tons of absolutely delicious food, we managed to rent a few DVDs – a miniature party in the evening with wine, nachos and dips. Sunday was warmer – much warmer – and all of us including Kat’s mother and cousin joined in a long walk at the beach yesterday. For the rest of the afternoons, we managed to play some knowledge games similar to Trivial Pursuit and Mensch Ärgere Dich Nicht before Pauli left us to return back to Rostock. The remnant crew of Griebenow found some more time to chill throughout the evening before we went to sleep.

Today it’s time for some joyful trip to the city of Greifswald and maybe we’ll perform some shopping, have a few cups of coffee and entertain ourselves with many fotosessions and kuddling.

I made a larger update for the Blogroll’s RSS List. You may download my daily reading circle and be inspired by the recent additions of the full Handelsblatt’s journalists, several new blogs such as the Futureblog, Blogspirit community blogs, german Podcasters and many more. Enjoy ;)

Currently, several blogs at Blogspirit are facing a probably minor error in the software settings: The administration interface and the blog’s output is usually displayed in french instead of i.e. english or german. This might have been caused due to the recent updates, and I believe Thomas or Philippe will find a solution soon.

Nearly all movies or tv series are synchronised for the German audience into their mother language. But this strikes me with a serious blow: The anglicism for URL as „Uniform Resource Locator“ was translated directly into German. My girlfriend Katharina and I were zapping through the programs, and we had no idea what they’ve been worrying about in the tv series – about a typo in the AQS? What’s the AQS, we asked ourselves… until we figured the URL had been renamed into AQS – „Allgemeiner Quellen Sucher“. Strange synchronisation directors! The anglicism is a normal method to implement modern english words like „Internet“, „Blog“, etc. into the German language, but the standardised revamping of tv series lacks conformity and the simple knowledge of anglicisms. I wish they’d show only original and unsynchronised movies and tv series… :(

Sometimes its quite useful to have your own watchlist… since there’s little time in my holidays to cover all the things with which I’ve been keeping myself busy. NetReaper has some more input on Magnus, Kelly and the Girliezine:

The logical anti-movement is simple: The anti-girliezine blog under the banner of „Lies create the Media“.

I encourage people to visit the anti-girliezine blog instead of reading the original one…

I’ve been reading through Thomas‘ great input concerning the Custom Boxes – a good idea about implementing some more functionality to your blog. However, the idea of supporting public referer lists is quite problematic as many referers are faked by spammers. Similar to the idea of comment spamming, they post their URLs into the referer header just to lure visitors via referer lists to their sites. Here is an excerpt from my own referer list found in the admin interface and my personal reason not to include this gadget at all – sex and cash advertisement shall not be part of my blog!
