… sind eine wunderbare Kombination, um so richtig lange online zu blieben. Normalerweise schalte ich meinen Laptop in den Standby Modus, um ihn dann nach einer Woche mit einem wirklichen „Herunterfahren/Neustart“ zu beglücken. Ich habe also noch ein wenig Zeit, bis ich Montag Abend loslegen werde:
What a jolly event! I’ve delved into the rich diversity provided by music players! From now on, I’m going to run the iTunes software package on my laptop. I figured I’d have to challenge Katharina in coordinating our nightly music session. In fact, I’m missing a few songs which I’ve loved and enjoyed to hear in the past – and her iPod needs some emergency updates sooner or later. There’s a ton of CDs to be updated…
At the moment, I’m all about to install the latest edition of Apple’s iPod supremacy software. So far, there’s been no trouble and everything was alright. Time to reboot and pray… :)
Seit kurzem ist der Microsoft Internet Explorer in der Preview zur Beta2 von seiner siebten Version erhältlich. Ich wage es nicht, den MS IE 7 auf meinen Rechnern zu installieren, zumal die Berichterstattung in den Medien und Blogs sich mit einem recht eindeutigen Tenor gegen die Software ausspricht. Und wer möchte schon eine Preview der Beta, wenn noch keine Finals / Release Candidates verfügbar sind? Wichtige Bestandteile sind folgende:
Die allgemeine Voraussetzung für die Installation, dass Windows XP samt Service Pack 2 (SP2) vorliegt – und vor allem die Authenzität des Betriebssystems muss gewährleistet sein. Wer sich mit der GUI (Microsoft’s interne Echtheitsprüfung) nicht überprüfen lassen möchte, wird also außen vorgelassen! Katharina versuchte jedenfalls, sich einmal das Teil krampfhaft aus dem Netz zu holen… wer’s braucht! [via Golem]
Wie kann ich es abschalten? Wie kann ich dafür sorgen, dass ich nicht alle paar Minuten daran erinnert werde, dass mein Computer neu gestartet werden muss, obwohl ich schon einmal bestätigt habe, dass ich es zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt machen möchte?
Ich bin doch kein unmündiger Nutzer von Microsoft-Software, oder etwa doch? Für diese gestohlene Zeit sollte man euch verklagen! Was denken sich die Entwickler des Updatedienstes überhaupt, mir alle paar Minuten einzutrichtern, ich solle neu booten, obwohl ich wichtigeres mit dem Rechner zu tun habe? Soetwas regt mich auf. Später bedeutet nicht, dass nach 5-10 Minuten nachgefragt wird. Bestenfalls starte ich den Rechner gar nicht neu, breche den dummen Prozess manuell ab, und schreibe darüber einen Blogartikel mit Screenshot! Microsoft stinkt. Und seine Entwickler wohl auch.
Und ganz nebenbei frage ich mich, wer wohl auf das Bild klickt – hab’s direkt auf unsere Bildergallerie geschickt!
Recently, I’ve installed and activated the new set of plugins „Structured Blogging“ for WordPress. At the moment, I’m not sure on how much I will use the features, but within a short time I’ll surely test and try out the new kind of articles found in the administration interface. Perhaps we’ll post reviews, event information, or just keep this blog up to date with a fancy podcast…? ;)

I just hope they won’t change their terms of use as much and as crazy like Flickr does.
What the hell? I am not able to log into my Flickr account anymore. The error message tells me that „This person is no longer active on Flickr.“, but I want to be active and plan to continue to use Flickr. Originally, I signed up with my Yahoo ID, but never had a problem until today. I entered the password and my email address that I use for these services, and suddenly I was prompted the message to choose my new Flickr name. So, why should I choose a new name if my old one was quite fine and wonderful?
I still got the confirmation email for my Flickr account, and all the wonderful memories of uploading my nifty screenshots… so listen, Flickr! Give me my account back. Or this could turn out to become some wrong marketing for you and your big mother Yahoo.
Its alive and breathing: Google Base just launched as reported by the official Google Blog and is… well I honestly don’t know! The plan is to enable the users to search for items which have been submitted by other users for free use. Is this Google’s new method of becoming a part of a social network?
Anyone, from large companies to website owners and individuals, can use it to submit their content in the form of data items. We’ll host the items and make them searchable for free.
In my opinion, the validity and integrity of the data provided has yet to be prooved. In fact, I can submit anything I’d like and give false information just as if I’d write the most illogical things on my blog? I’m not sure if Google Base is such a useful tool as its maker say.
However, the ability to submit your own content and your own academic work seems to be a fair argument for the use of Google Base as a tool to publicize your thoughts.
After several weeks of doing nothing with Firefox due to the deepest suffering from the slow speed and high latency, I considered updating my 1.0.6 version to 1.5 on my laptop. Further I tried to add the Fasterfox extension and a new theme, however I was not allowed to do this. At first I thought the University’s WLAN would not grant access to the FTP Servers (which it actually did permit), but back at home I had the same problem.
What happened? I updated from the 1.0.6 to 1.5 RC1 and forgot that the Software Installations were manually disabled inthe old version. Sadly, the developpers have removed the ability to deny these software installations and replaced it with a menu button in the Options->Content area to make special exceptions for sites which are allowed to install software. Well, right away I had to manuever to the about:config and manually edited the following line from false to true:
xpinstall.enabled – default – boolean
That solved my problem of installing the extensions and themes for my newly pimpled Firefox! Beat that, developpers!
Earlier this morning I received my official invitation from the team around Flock – the newest toy for combining Webbrowsing, RSS Aggregating and Social Bookmarking! Unfortunately the firewall of the University of Flensburg is not allowing me to download the file, and I’m probably trying to get my hands on it once I’m back home.
