The Marketing Plan
1. Situation Analysis
– Internal and External Environment; SWOT Analysis
2. Marketing Objectives
3. Marketing Strategies
– Target Markets; Positioning the Product; Strategies for Products, Pricing, Promotion, Distribution
4. Implementation Strategies
– Action Plans, Budgets, Timing and Schedules
5. Monitoring and Control Strategies
Research, Trend Analysis, Marketing Audit

Currently I’m awaiting the arrival of Senona for a meeting of our Sociology Reader Group in the Mensa. The weather outside is absolutely hot, the campus is filled by skinny skirts and quinsy bodies – and I was stupid enough to schedule this meeting for today. Not that I forgot to bring a camera on this day to make a few shots of my girlfriend, I still wear these jeans. It’s the only day I have time tho, and I wonder if she’s going to arrive. Aside from this, I’ve been waiting for a call of Mirko to check with me about the meeting date and time… sooner or later I might leave the Mensa for a restful moment outside in the sun. I’m sure they can find me, and if not, there’s this blog to read about my whereabouts. Now there she is… she arrived ;)

They are meant to solve disputes among those who are leveled below them in the corporate organisational hierarchy. To evaluate all their problems becomes a burden, because each individual expects to be treated as extraordinary individual, and while they might have a special attitude, they should not be leveled higher than their co-workers unless these are proovingly considered to be incapable of keeping up with their supposed-to-be extraordinary teammates. And what happens if the others catch up and figure out that one wants to get raised higher than they are? They push this special one down with any argumentation they can find useful. Managing is a war on a thin line between the good and evil, and you have to treat them like sheep in your herd. Being this shepherd, you’ll give them a long and prosper life… until you fire them like lambs to the slaughter.

The last days were troublesome for the heart of a student – too much work to keep up with it. Not that we had to finish a presentation, but we worked more and more on our Manifesto 2005 which will be automatically published on our DCFP Website. I had hopes to return to the Blogosphere on a more regular schedule, but University keeps me off. Sometimes I wonder why it’s such a time consuming effort, and once I’m finished with my BBA and MBA, I’ll be alienated from society as a manager. Quite a dirty thought.

This weekend was quite a blast. Already on Friday and Saturday, Katharina and I were occupied with the Powerpoint presentation for the Spanish Language course. It was quite annoying to transform our written term paper for the purpose of the presentation, however we managed to hold our presentation just a few minutes ago this monday morning – esta listo!

For entertaining moments on Sunday, our Party-Propaganda Team met again: After fetching some information for the Regional Development Election Project course for preparation, we made some photos of our whole team (Torben, Kristin, Katharina and myself) before we started to write our structure and the first issues to our party’s political manifesto. We’re not finished yet, but we plan to get it done already this evening.

In the past I’ve been reading the anonymous blog named „Middle Manager’s Haven“, but unfortunately the service by „Lee Adama“ has been discontinued more or less and just a few posts happen to show the author is still alive. Recently he asked himself and his potential readers about their behaviour in reading and commenting (or rather doing nothing) at his blog, and so far there’s been little reaction to him. Let’s see if we can push his blog, because I’ve already given him two replies – I assume it’s a male author because of the choice of the fictional character „Lee Adama“, and if not please correct me. On the contrary, a manager’s haven is probably a place filled with similar thinking people. It depends how many people can combine their thoughts to perhaps use his blog as a platform to share ideas or develop a group-thinking within such environment even if the idea of group-thinking is considered as potential danger to any leading management position… I’ll be watching the development over there.

Kat and I were working for more than 4 hours on our term paper for Desarollo Regional 2 with the temporary title „Intercultural Communication in Business“. Unfortunately, it’s meant to be 8-10 pages in total with a maximum of 21000 words – I believe this limitation will restrict the entire issue which is quite important for management. We’ve managed to work out our structure and nearly finished the first part about the definition of culture and the preception of culture leading towards communicative issues. In the end, we plan to roughly compare the approach found in the Cultural Dimensions of Hofstede and Trompenaar with the cross-culture approach by Richard D. Lewis found in his book „When Cultures Collide: Managing Across Cultures„. I plan to publish our German original and our spanish translation of the work once we’re done.

I wondered already two weeks ago about one of my lectors in International Human Resource Management. It’s quite normal to have an influenca or a simple illness…

Dear students,
due to my illness tomorrows lecture (29.04.05) is cancelled.
Unfortunately I cannot speak, due to an acute inflammation of my tonsils.
We will review the material from this lecture next session on 13.05.2005.
I will also prepare some new case study material for you, I will put on the homepage and e-mail to you next week.
Regards,

… but to send the following, this prooves me right – she’s quite an unfortunate lector!

Dear students,

Nice stuff, but to be honest, Kat and myself laughed quite a lot over this kind of coincidence!
