Syndication Template Error
Apparently, an error has tweaked the Blogspirit system within the templates (Design > Advanced settings). The „Syndication Rss2.0“ template links are showing the atom.htm file while editing, viewing the original version and restoring the original. I strumbled across this problem as I noticed the RSS feed was encoded in UTF-8 while I prefer to encode my feed in ISO-8859-15 to show special characters found in the German alphabet. I hope Blogspirit is going to fix this link error soon!
Dear Thomas,
my description was perhaps a little bit misleading. I noticed that the feed looks fine since my own feed aggregator software called RSSOwl transforms the whole index.rss correctly. But now I mainly refer to the idea of reparsing the index.rss with a php module called zfeeder which I do on my domain in order to include the content from my blog at blogspirit. I implement the first four entries of the RSS Feed at my ‚Starting Point‘ page, and the article written in German with the Umlaut sounds of ä, ö, ü, and ß (ae, oe, ue and ss) appears like this after being parsed through the zfeeder module once the UTF-8 is assigned to the text:
„Was für ein wunderschöner Tag, an dem man noch das schneeüberzogene…“
Instead, it should look like the following:
„Was für ein wunderschöner Tag, an dem man noch das schneeüberzogene…“
I know that you cannot support the zfeeder module, but once zfeeder encounters the UTF-8, it probably parses the ascii codes of the characters and overwrites the extended ascii code bits. Once it is in the ISO-8859-15 (latin encoding for european languages), the feeds are displayed correctly.
I’m not sure what you meant with the last paragraph? The links for the „Syndication Rss2.0“ and „Atom“ templates both direct me to the following URL (the mhash is replaced)
view_advanced_design.php?id=&evnt=edit&filename=atom.htm&mhash=xyz
I am not able to edit the „Syndication Rss2.0“ template.
Best regards,
Mike Schnoor
Yes, we do know about this error and we are fixing it !
About the UTF-8, the whole platform is encoded in UTF-8 because Blogspirit is now 100% open to China in terms of caracter encoding.
This new caracter encoding manage any German caracter. I received today by Atom syndication your last post in German (didn’t catch a word as I don’t speak German !) and it was clean.
But you should be able to update it and fix the encoding as you want.
Thanks again for all your efforts and for reporting us your ideas about Blogspirit !
Thomas
Ok the problem is solved !
Rss 2.0 template is now available for editing.
Thanks for reporting.
