Death of Girliezine
Blogkultur, SpamNico Wilfer, the hoster of Myblog.de, closed the blog „Girliezine“ on Saturday evening. Wilfer himself explained the blog had been closed due to the facts that even after being warned, „Kelly M.“ chose to spam several other blogs and threatened the authors, too. On the question of the long run to the closure of the blog, Wilfer answered they’d require a very good reason to delete a blog – especially without sending out a warning to the blog’s author, a deletition might catch those users who do not intend to violate rules and regulations. Dogfood at Blogbar concludes some more ideas about virtual death of Girliezine (in German).
RSS List Update
BlogkulturI made a larger update for the Blogroll’s RSS List. You may download my daily reading circle and be inspired by the recent additions of the full Handelsblatt’s journalists, several new blogs such as the Futureblog, Blogspirit community blogs, german Podcasters and many more. Enjoy ;)
French Cover-Up
BlogkulturCurrently, several blogs at Blogspirit are facing a probably minor error in the software settings: The administration interface and the blog’s output is usually displayed in french instead of i.e. english or german. This might have been caused due to the recent updates, and I believe Thomas or Philippe will find a solution soon.
AQS Syndrome
MedienNearly all movies or tv series are synchronised for the German audience into their mother language. But this strikes me with a serious blow: The anglicism for URL as „Uniform Resource Locator“ was translated directly into German. My girlfriend Katharina and I were zapping through the programs, and we had no idea what they’ve been worrying about in the tv series – about a typo in the AQS? What’s the AQS, we asked ourselves… until we figured the URL had been renamed into AQS – „Allgemeiner Quellen Sucher“. Strange synchronisation directors! The anglicism is a normal method to implement modern english words like „Internet“, „Blog“, etc. into the German language, but the standardised revamping of tv series lacks conformity and the simple knowledge of anglicisms. I wish they’d show only original and unsynchronised movies and tv series… :(
Anti-Girliezine
BlogkulturSometimes its quite useful to have your own watchlist… since there’s little time in my holidays to cover all the things with which I’ve been keeping myself busy. NetReaper has some more input on Magnus, Kelly and the Girliezine:
I encourage people to visit the anti-girliezine blog instead of reading the original one…
Referer Problem
Blogkultur, SpamI’ve been reading through Thomas‘ great input concerning the Custom Boxes – a good idea about implementing some more functionality to your blog. However, the idea of supporting public referer lists is quite problematic as many referers are faked by spammers. Similar to the idea of comment spamming, they post their URLs into the referer header just to lure visitors via referer lists to their sites. Here is an excerpt from my own referer list found in the admin interface and my personal reason not to include this gadget at all – sex and cash advertisement shall not be part of my blog!
No Prime Minister
Medien, PolitikThis is an unbelievable punishment for the governmental party SPD (Social Democratic Party) in Germany: The elections to the Prime Minister for the state of Schleswig-Holstein were held four times without finding a winner. It depends only on one vote as 35 of 69 total votes are necessary to win this race but the SPD got only 34 votes of their 35 possible votes of the current coalitions of the Grüne (Green) and SSW (South Schleswig Group). The tv news magazines report there won’t be a new election but a special case election to find a government for the state. The latest Prime Minister, Heide Simonis, won’t take another fifth election routine since she’s going to step back from her duties. This day is one of the most discomforting moments for the SPD party as the coalition of CDU (Christian Democratic Union) and FDP (Free Democratic Party) is celebrating the events – it will lead to a loss of SPD votes in the Bundesrat, the second instance for legislative issues in Germany after the Bundestag. Critics doubt the government will have an easy time in the current legislature period…
Translation
BlogkulturI believe I might find some time to continue the translation of the Blogspirit software’s language package into the German language later this evening. I’m eager to compile the whole PoEdit input to finish my promises. Unfortunately, the exams for university stroke me like a serious blast, and now the trip to Berlin costs way too much time to find small portions of a cleared mind… ;)
Weblogs powered by Germany’s T-Online
BlogkulturThe German telecommunication company T-Online, a subsiduary branch of the T-Com (Telecom) company, launches its own Weblog portal with a monthly subscription fee of 3,99 Euros paid via the telephone bill. The software is based on Typepad and it is powered by Six Apart. Personally, I would not use this tool as they require payment from the first use of the software package. I believe that a minimal free-to-use functionality such as Blogspirit’s offer is a must-do for any bloghoster company. T-Online is just ripping off the users in my eyes…
I-Pod, I-Hate
Social MediaHow to reset a frozen I-Pod? How not to throw it against the wall? How to soothe your girlfriend if she’s angry and making a fuzz about it? These questions stroke me this morning… and her comment was nothing else but „my fucking I-Pod hates me“. I-Hate it too. Even Apple has some suggestions for this thing, but I tried it hard – following their instructions a dozent times, but the little I-Hate did not change anything into the Apple logo. Why not? Why in this life not? If I put it closer to my ear, it sounds like an old cassette tape being rewinded… for hours. I hope the batteries will empty soon and we can start it all over. What a joyful morning. Her laptop dismantled our souls, the I-Hate tuned nothing on, and I have to go to the doctor to get my results.
