Webdesigners and their Enemies
There’s one thing that disturbs me – my former work as webdesigner. While reading articles on the web, I just heard of webdesigners being compared with dogs. That’s a funny one, but really impossible for professionals. The common Webdesigner as seen through the eyes of their contracting partners is usually nothing else but looking through the glasses of unknowness. In general, the professional webdesigners (and definately not the at-home-toy-boys/girls) are not independent workers but rather represent the department of a larger media company. I just wonder how to handle the process of a rightful contract if „last minute“ rise from the orderer’s side.
Since the contract usually defines the output and scope of service prior to the delivery of the webdesigner’s final work, I cannot imagine these greater changes of ideological terror will work as described by Fergus Webber. In the end, the webdesigner (and company) can simply deny these final changes if its a useless annoyance which treats the webdesigner … like a dog.
Yet in usual business situations, I fear that the webdesigners will be mistreated, abused and terrorized. That’s the plague of the business, because none of the contracting partners will ever be satisfied. I have damned them for letting me correct their thoughtless work until late in the night, and I will do so in the future…
