A. Culture:

a) The case is showing some behaviors of the Czech managers are different from the German managers according to cultural differences.
Describe the influence of culture in behavior according to Nancy Adler’s Model! (Brief description of Nancy Adler’s Model) 10 points

b) According to Hofstede we can identify four cultural dimensions (extended model five dimensions).
1. Offer a brief description of the five dimensions and 13 points
2. describe which of the problems in the case may rise according to different levels of cultural dimensions! 7 points

B. Organization/Strategy: in the case new strategies & structures are implemented

a) Which relationship do we normally find among the three main variiables strategy, structure and HRM and by which factors are these relationships and also the three main variables influenced? (briefly describe the model) 7 points

b) What is the „new strategy“ in HRM in the case? 3 points

c) What is done to support the strategy? 5 points

d) With how much success is the German company introducing the new strategy and what could be done to support the introduction of the strategy and improve success by this? 5 points

e) On which stage of internationalization is the company in the case? (explain the stages-model of internationalization and briefly comment on why you think that the company is on the stage that you assume) 7 points for stages + 3 points for explanation

f) What orientation to internationalization according to Perlmutter does the Bremen choose? (Explain the Perlmutter-approaches to IHRM and explain why you think the company is using the approach you assume) 7 points for Perlmutter + 3 points for explanation

C. Human Resource Policy and Practise at Karnovac

a) Training:
1. Is the level of training/the investment in training performed in the Karnovac after the JV on a sufficient level compared with European research? 7 points
2. Why or why not? 3 points

b) Performance:
1. Which categories of criteria do the Germans use to measure the performance at Karnovac? 5 points
2. What kind of suggestions would you make for a performance appraisal of the expatriates (PCNs) and also of the HCNs (Czech employees)? 5 points

c) Compensation/Contracting:
1. Expatriate contracts at Karnovac are made according to which rules? (Who makes the contract and of which duration is the contract) 5 points
2. What is common practise in European MNEs for making contracts? (Length vs. contracting partner) 5 points

Also mir haben 90 Min. gereicht…
