Grafedia: A Live Reality

Grafedia is an amazing idea to merge ourselves with other people to overcome the limitation of the digital world of the internet and the complete physical environment.

[…] Grafedia is hyperlinked text, written by hand onto physical surfaces and linking to rich media content […] With grafedia, every surface becomes potentially a web page, and the entire physical world is joined with the Internet. […]

Created by John Geraci, a New York artist and student for Interactive Communication, this software allows interactivity with three easy steps. Since anybody can become a „Grafedia artist“, you just have to send a word with the media file (images, videos or sound files) to their server. I created an entry for the word „sichelputzer“, and you might want to look at it by mailing sichelputzer@grafedia.net – a few other fellow bloggers did it here and here, too.

1. Choose a word. 2. Send a media file from your cell phone to that chosen word plus ‚@grafedia.net‘, e.g. ‚sichelputzer@grafedia.net‚. 3. Write that word anywhere in the real world in blue with an underline.
