Why I’m here and not in California

A few minutes earlier, anonymuis wondered in the comments why I’d stay here while Kat is going to start her internship in California. That’s quite the issue for me and a question I’ve been asked before. The reason why I will stay here back in Germany sounds quite stupid, but it is rather simple: I’m not going to California because Kat did not consider me for an internship in the same company in which she has applied for.

No, that’s childish. Of course there’s some other reason! She applied at a telecommunication company where one of her buddy-friends works as programmer for a call-center. In the end, this buddy-friend asked for her internship position and the whole thing got rollin. I had no real chance to get an internship at this company, and on top of that – why not being separated for a short time in a relationship?

I like the issue to be alone, to hang out until late at night, perhaps find some project work for our institute, or just enjoy the free time without worrying about what Kat might think if I do this or that! But I’m going to miss her a lot… so I’ll not go with her to California but stay here and wait for her return. I hope she does ;)
